Green India Hackathon (GIH) GIH is a pathbreaking initiative from Electric One and WUElev8 who have joined hands to drive EV transformation across the spectrum galvanising all the key stakeholders through a common engaging platform – Academia, EV OEM’s and Suppliers, EV Charging organisations, Customers and Policy makers. GIH is an annual nationwide hackathon which is aimed at providing a platform to the innovative technology solutions designed by students and EV enthusiasts for the faster growth of the EV ecosystem. Automobile sector is a major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions and there is a need for vehicles which work on alternative energy sources. Use of Electric Vehicles is one of the emerging technologies in the quest for ‘Net Zero Carbon Footprint’. With the necessary push given by Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari ji, he stated recently that the number of electric vehicles in India will touch 3 crores in 2 years.

To solve the problems of EV industry through technology,Electric One in partnership with WUElev8 – Where yoU Elevate invited the young talent, startups to showcase their talent at ‘Green India Hackathon’ on 3 & 4th February at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies. This hackathon aimed to solve the problems of the EV Industry through technology and we were able to provide 25+ solutions out of which 10+ ideas are expected to be incubated. The hackathon prize money being INR 1.25 lacs with an Electric Scooter worth Rs.80000 and an Electric bike worth Rs.40000 & Hummel vouchers worth Rs. 20000. The hackathon was supported by Telio EV, ipower, E-Sprinto, Battre, Hummel, Ixigo, venue partner being Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies, print partner being Parliamentarian & Community Partner being Algo Zenith & Flutter Kolkata. Amit Singh, the Co-founder & CEO of TelioEV who was also the GOLD sponsor for the Green India Hackathon said, “Congratulations Dhiraj Tripathi , Amit Das and WUElev8 – Where yoU Elevate for the wonderful event. This will help all of us in the EV ecosystem to get more talent.” Being one of the biggest EV hackathons, 110+ participants from 20+ engineering colleges across India, 50+ guests joined including investors, various EV industry leaders, and academicians attending the event. The hackathon is covered by ‘Parliamentarian’ magazine, which is read by the central and state government policy makers across India.

The opening ceremony of the hackathon was graced by our Chief Guest Shri Anshoo Pandey, Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), Director Railway Board, New Delhi and various other dignitaries. 

The event also involved multiple panel discussions moderated by WUElev8’s Co-founder & CTO, Mr. Sunil Kumar and Electric One’s Founder & CEO, Mr. Amit Das where he discussed with the industry experts on EV policy and Technological challenges. The insights shared by Industry experts were highly fruitful for the participants.

The First prize was won by a team from Chandigarh University with a prize money of INR 20000 & an Electric Scooter worth Rs.80000. The Second prize was won by a team from IIIT Delhi with a prize money of INR 10000 & and an Electric bike worth Rs.40000. The Third prize was won by a team from GD Goenka University with a prize money of INR 5000 & Hummel vouchers worth Rs. 20000.
